Repatriation
Cultural artifact repatriation is a complex issue in which many characteristics (parties and countries involved, artifact status, negotiation methods, etc.) must be considered. Even before the CHRF was founded in 2017, its members partook in the repatriation of many Korean cultural artifacts together with different organizations and governmental institutions. To manifest the Korean civilians' passionate desires and efforts to restore their cultural heritage, the CHRF was found to locate Korean cultural heritage that was illicitly taken overseas, and to discover a means to bring them back.
The CHRF currently has a collection of Korean cultural heritage that have been brought back from overseas through various means, mainly donation. The collection is currently being utilized for content creation, museum loans and exhibitions, creative projects, restorative projects, and being prepared and curated for a museum.
